The young actor was excellent and set the stage for a coming of ageįilm until all bets are off and his estranged father comes to claim him after his mother died in a terrorist bombing. Absolutely would recommend this movie as well as the book. Generally I think it was very hard-hitting, emotional, and captivating. There were whole sections of the book that were taken away that I wish they would've kept, but it didn't take away from the movie overall. ![]() It seemed to me that the scenes where I would've wanted more to them (the energetic, more demanding scenes) were cut short and the slower scenes were really dragged out. Scene by scene wise, I wish it would've been slightly less choppy. For me, it made perfect sense and I enjoyed the back and forth between past and present. Now when it comes to the set up of the movie, it could've been confusing to one who had not read the novel. The dynamic between every character, big and small, flows so naturally. Firstly, I think the casting was outstanding. We both read my copy of the book beforehand and enjoyed it thoroughly, so our expectations were high. *could present spoilers* I saw this movie with my mom and it did not disappoint. ![]()
